FrequentlyAskedQuestions

Q1: What types of mortgage can BestFrenchMortgage offer me?

A1: We at BestFrenchMortgage work with a panel of brokers who are in touch with over 70 lenders, so the choice is almost endless. We can find fixed rate or floating rate mortgages, or you may prefer a cocktail. BestFrenchMortgage broker partners are especially good at finding mortgages for unusual or difficult circumstances and for renovation projects.

Q2: How much can I borrow?

A2: The maximum amount you can borrow depends on the value of your property (normally up to 80%, but in some cases 100% loans can be arranged) and the income you have available to make the loan repayments from. The best way to assess what you can borrow is to submit a completed enquiry form: Enquiry form >

Q3: What will the mortgage cost?

A3: BestFrenchMortgage give you access to both fixed and variable rate mortgages.

Fixed rates are just that – fixed for the term of the mortgage - so you will know from the start exactly how much you will have to pay per month right to the last repayment.

Floating rates are reviewed regularly and can change thus the amount of your monthly payment or the term of the mortgage can change.

BestFrenchMortgage broker partners are experts at re-financing mortgages to enable you to have the best rate whether you opt for a fixed or variable rate mortgage. And remember BestFrenchMortgage broker partners charge NO DOSSIER FEES thus saving you up to 2% of the mortgage value.

Q4: How do I arrange my mortgage through BestFrenchMortgage?

A4: The first step is to complete our online enquiry form - Click here to go to the enquiry form.

Though you can get a pre-approval decision from our broker partner most suited to your enquiry over the internet you will need to provide documentation as proof of income etc. to receive a binding mortgage offer from the selected lender. The documents you will need to produce can vary but the broker partner will tell you exactly what you will need to submit depended on the type of mortgage you wish to have. You will be able to arrange everything over the Internet and/or over the telephone - always in English. The funds will be sent by the selected lender to your Notaire and will be available for the completion of your purchase on the date of the acte.

Q5: How long will it take to sort everything out?

A5: In most cases BestFrenchMortgage broker partners are able to get you a pre-approval decision within 48 hours and all the paperwork will be completed in good time to ensure that the money is with your Notaire for completion, normally 2-3 months later. Q7: How do I make repayments?

A7: Monthly repayments will be collected automatically by your mortgage provider from any French bank account, so you don’t have to worry. Q9: Why can’t I send the application form from my computer? When I try to send the form I get an error message.

A9: In order to ensure security over the Internet our computer system needs to be able to communicate with yours to ensure that the completed form is securely transmitted to us. Sometimes your browser or your firewall may be set to prevent this type of communication. You may need to lower your security settings just whilst you send the form (you may need to re-open your browser for the changes to take effect). Don’t forget to re-set them afterwards.
